As human population continues to grow, the habitat of alligators also continues to develop. That being said, it is safe to say that interactions between the two are inevitable, which is why the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission offers some tips on how people can co-exist peacefully with these large reptiles.
- Keep your dogs & cats on a leash or indoors and don’t allow them to swim in waters where alligators are spotted.
- Refrain from feeding fish, ducks and geese in these same waters.
- Dispose the fish scraps in your garbage cans instead of throwing them elsewhere.
- Be vigilant between dusk and dawn when alligators are most active.
