Many people make feeding birds a regular habit, however, what they don’t know is that a piece of backyard suet may actually hold hidden risks for these animals.
To avoid these potential risks, here are some things that you can do.
- Research the favorite foods of the species that you want to attract.
- Completely scrub out feeders with a 10 percent non-chlorinated bleach solution at least a few times a year.
- Clean up bird seed mixtures in the winter or rake them out when the conditions are drier.
- Buy specific seeds for specific feeders.
