Bears roaming around near habitats is a pretty common sighting during this time of the year. That being said, homeowners are reminded by officials to be aware of the damage these animals may cause to their properties. Here are some tips from DNR on how to avoid conflict with bears.

  • Do not leave food from picnics overnight.
  • Get rid of birdfeeders around your property.
  • Store your garbage in bear-resistant dumpsters.
  • Properly rinse all garbage bins and containers using hot water.
