Often mistaken for a porcupine, hedgehogs are small mammals that are not closely related to the former. Unlike porcupines, hedgehogs have quills made from keratin that are not easily detached from their bodies.

 

Below are some more interesting facts about these animals.

 

  •         Hedgehogs roll into a ball when they are in danger.
  •         Most hedgehogs are small that they can actually fit into an adult’s hand.
  •         Hedgehogs usually live in burrows and nests that they build themselves.
  •         Hedgehogs are big sleepers and can sleep up to 18 hours per day.
